About This Workspace Page

This is a list of web pages and email address that can be used to publicize art events in the Twin Cities. This is an ongoing project, update by Remo Campopiano. Committee members can help improve this service by making suggestions after they use it.

STEP #1: Write Press Release & Send Out Bulk Emails

Instructions

To use this page you need to have your press release written and have chosen a image or two.

HOW TO: Send BCC Media Emails

  1. Copy the press release text and paste it into an email.
  2. Examine formatting and adjust if necessary.
  3. In the To: fields, put your own email address
  4. Put a descriptive subject.
  5. Attached an image to each email.
  6. Copy it 3 more times (You need 4 email all the same, with subjects and attachments.)
NOTE: the email list is split into 4 list because, if you use the whole list it will go into people’s spam box.
  7. Download the first list of media emails by click the button in the right column.
  8. IMPORTANT: In BCC field paste the email list.
NOTE: People do not like their email address shown to everyone.
  9. Before sending, examine everything to be sure you have it ready.
  10. Send email.
  11. Repeat three more times using the Media List #2, #3 and #4.

Above are four buttons to download our list of Media Email Addresses that accept press releases via email. It has been cleaned (bounced emails removed) as of 9-27-19. The total is 100 emails. Each group contains approximately one quarter of the list.

NOTE: Step #2 is optional. It’s complicated, take a lot of time to do and it’s debatable whether it’s worth the effort.

Steps #2: Media Outlets with Web Submit Forms

Instructions

Some media outlets ask you to use their online form to submit events. To make this job a little easier we list the URLs to these submission forms below.

To make this easy on yourself do the following:

  1. Open a text editor like SimpleText or Notepad.
  2. Copy your press release into the text editor (Don’t worry about the lose of formatting.)
  3. Break the text up into destinct chunks:
    1. Title/Subject
    2. Full Description
    3. Short Description
    4. Description (without short description)
