STEP #1: Write Press Release
Instructions
The way it worked last time is that Margo wrote a small article in the Northeaster. Then we reverse engineered it into a press release. Next time we should be able to write the Press Release first making it a little easier for Margo and getting the Press out earlier.

Event: HATCH PechaKucha Night
Topic: Artist Who Teach
When: Sunday, January 20th from 6 – 8pm
Where: Art Force, 1400 Van Buren St. NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413
Learn about artists who teach, at a PechaKucha Sunday, Jan. 20, 6pm. Art Force will host the free, open-to-public event at 1400 Van Buren St. NE. In this fast-paced format, artists show and explain work with 20 slides in 20 seconds each.
The program will feature Susan Armington, Suzann Beck, Marko Fields, Candy Kuehn, Layl McDill, Ernest Miller, Malcom Potek, Wayne Potratz, and Denise Tennen. Audience discussion and questions follow after all have presented.
Artists will address how and why teaching informs their artistic practice, what students gain from their educational experience, and how teachers implement their teaching philosophies into their curriculum.
PechaKuchas are a signature event of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District’s HATCH committee, which is dedicated to assessing and filling the need for an arts center, whether in a physical space or online.

STEP #2: Create Flyer

Layl created a one-page flyer on the event which is to be used in various ways:
- As a handout during the event
- As part of the facebook event
- As an attachment to emails
- By committee members
- By participants
- By District mail system
The flyer has all the pertinent information and head shots of all the participants.

STEP #6: Send PR to District Email List
Instructions
For this events we sent via Constant Contact, an e-newsletter using the flyer informing the 600 subscribers of this event and asking them to categorize themselves as interested in HATCH.
Next time we should be in a position to do this using a simpler and less expensive program called MailPoet.

STEP #7: Encourage Participants to Publicize Even6
Several days after the Tech Email, a PR Email will be sent to the Participants and a similar one to the Committee members.

We’ve done our part to publicise this event. We’ve Send out over 100 press releases, set up a facebook page and made phone calls.
You can help too, by doing the following:
- Go to our facebook event page where you can:

- Share as Post
- Invite Friends
- Send an email with the attached flyer
- Make a couple of phone calls to friends that have been asking about your work.
The best way to get attendees is a personal invite. If each presenter can bring in 5 people we will have a decent crowd.
At the very least do facebook.

Using the same info as step #7 we can ask the committee to help publicize the event.

After the event this followup message should be sent out to the participants.
Next time, we might also as them if it is ok to put their email address in the News from the District newsletter list.
As a Hatch committee member I want to personally thank you for such wonderful presentations. How fortunate we are as a community to see such great work!
