How to get Subscriber to Update their Profile

Learn more about our subscribers

Once we get this system up and running, we will need to know more about our subscribers. This is done via a MailPoet function called Update Profile.

The questions they will be answering will help us self-categorize our supporters, which will allow us to target specific appeals and opportunities:

  • To advertise in the newsletter, on the website, and in print in Arts Insights.
  • Sponsor specific District programs.
  • Participate in ART365.
  • Volunteer for Web Maintenance.
  • Join HATCH.
  • Help with specific District events.
  • Apply for District job opportunities.

Note: This is the place I (remo) have been attempting to reach since I created the first HATCH website. From here we can become a much more effective organization.

How to get subscribers to Update Your Profile

The problem

To allow subscribers to self categorize themselves we need them to Update Their Profile.

Most people will not take the time to fill out a form especially if it is long, and it needs to be long to be useful. We need to offer meaningful incentives.

These incentives need to be automatic so that it doesn’t become an administrative nightmare. Digital incentive can be automated fairly easily.

The solution

Incentives work…

Here are a few ideas that might be used:

  1. Access to my systems to send press releases to the Twin Cities media outlets.
  2. Discounts on ART365 fees.
  3. A studio visit by local influencers.
  4. Entry into a lottery (for what?)
  5. Can we get gifts from local vendors.
  6. Any other thoughts?
  7. __________

Asking questions that will be useful

If you’ve gone through the trouble of setting up an incentive program you better make sure you build a form that:

  • Does not turn people off
  • Is not too complicated
  • Gets the data you need.

We need to think “What will we do with this data?”

My answers to this question are:

  • Ask for donations
    • Can they give
    • Do they give
    • Do they benefit from our services
  • Identify possible advertisers
    • Do they own a business
    • Is it art related
    • Is it successful
    • Do they benefit from our services
  • Find new participant in our programming
    • Are they artists
    • What are their expertise
  • Increase audience in District events
    • What events interest them
    • Do they attend our programs
  • Increase audience in non-District events
  • Find new leadership
  • Find new volunteers
  • Find new opt-in lists

I’m going to need help with this. Now that the task is clearly identified, the question is:

“Who do we know who has some expertise in this?”

This is what I have been asking for some time now and no one is stepping forward.
